Show Q Q Chiyo Nelson Reporter Seventh Grade News The Seventh graders of t the h e Manti ManU Junior High School have been busy since the first day of school accustoming ourselves 10 to the new ways of Junior High It has been an interesting experience ex experience experience ex- ex to have a number of teachers We Ve enjoy our lockers for our books even though they are a bit noisy for the other classes On September 28 all the Jr High went on their fall outing up to Community Camp We Ve enjoyed the afternoon hiking playing games and eating our lunches A week later on October 4 the Seventh Graders suffered through initiations That day we could expect anything boys hays wearing girdles diapers ballet dresses girls wearing gunny sacks night gowns or boxes We Ve had to bow down and worship the eighth graders go beg for pennies eat raw onions on onions onions on- on ions and many other things But we lived through it and andu u n now we feel like we are full full- fledged members of the Junior High We Ve are looking forward to many other experiences during during during dur dur- ing the year The following students have been chosen class officers for this year President Richard vice president Steve treasur secretary er Susan Cox and room representatives representatives representatives Chauncey Boyington and Sue Ann Gillespie Margaret 1 Dyreng Class Reporter Initiations The eighth grade had a barrel of fun on October 4 when we initiated the little seventh grad grad- ers The day was carried out very well and all had fun The highlight of the assembly was the hot seat When the seventh graders sat on it they got an electric shock The food was very I delicious with alum and tobasco sauce on crackers and a lot of other goodies The he clothing was quite fash fash- v- v with long Johns and nylons Boys were dressed like girls and many other characters Paula Reporter Mrs Browns Brown's Primary Unit The children in Mrs 1 Browns Brown's s Primary unit have had an in interesting interesting interesting in- in unit on Indians They have learned about the different different different differ differ- ent kinds of homes built by the Indians the tepee the hogan the pueblo and the long house They have learned about the mode of transportation the In Indians Indians Indians In- In used the canoe the dugout dugout dugout dug dug- out boat and the bull boat for water transportation and t the h e travois for land transportation One committee constructed a teepee One committee wrote stories and one committee made pottery from clay Many poems and songs were learned They have especially enjoyed the Indian film strips dealing with food clothing transportation houses Indian craft and Indian games As a conclusion to this study the children will make a collection collection collection tion of Indian things for u Tn In- In oll on we wc have nave nav planted pl some dian corn for our exhibit Mrs Armstrongs Armstrong's Primary Unit Unit Unit- In Mrs Armstrongs Armstrong's room the children have been studying about about about a- a bout seeds They gathered fifty kinds of seeds and put them in packages They learned that all plants reproduce in some way They found out that seeds are of many shapes colors and sizes SCATTERED COLORS By Robert Armstrong One day a n little bee was flying flying flying fly fly- fly fly- ing around and he saw a flower He started to go down for some honey when he saw another bee flying up Did you take it all he asked No said the other bee there is more honey butare but butare butare are you sure you want a red flower This flower ver has pollen on it Oh no said the first bee I III have just come from yellow flowers There is yellow pollen on my wings If I geton get geton geton on the red flower I will scatter the colors into the seeds So he flew away to find more yellow yellow yellow yel yel- low flowers |
