R Val Dimick D Dies ies of Injuries tJ l It 1 When Attempt is Made to i I Y Dodge Lone Sheep on Road 1 r Val Dimick 15 son of Mr and Mrs Vern Vernon n Dimick of Manti was killed and six companions were injured Tuesday I Inight night when a Jeep owned by Mr Dimick and driven by IBI k young Val turned over about midway between Manti and JL Ephraim as the driver attempted to dodge a lone sheep on the highway The boys had hod attended M. M I I. I A. A I meeting in Manti and had th then n I gone to Ephraim for a ride It was on the return trip to ManU Mant shortly after nine o'clock when young Dimick swerved to miss the stray sheep and the jeep turned over I Dr Lucien Sears was returning I Ito to Manti from a call to Ephraim and came on the boys right after the accident He reports that the Dimick boy was alive when he arrived but died in about five minutes A fracture at the base of the skull appeared to have caused caused caused caus caus- ed the death but Reuben Buchanan Buchan Buchan- an of the Buchanan Mortuary where the body vas was taken reports that the boys boy's chest was crushed and his lungs punctured Dr Sears rendered first aid to the injured and the six were then taken to Manti most of them by Robert Dorius of Ephraim and were were treated by Doctors Lucien and Richard Sears I Injured Doing Well VeIl Dr Lucien Sears Scars reported W Wed Wednesday that none of the six in injured ill m- boys appears to be seriously hurt and that all seem to be doing well Ronald Parry 15 son of f Mi and M Mrs Harmon Parry received a bad bump on the head and is suffering from concussion He is bruised in several places has minor cuts and his parents report that he is pretty stiff and sore He will have to spend at least a few days in bed Bart Rowe 14 son of Mr and Mrs Glen Rowe suffered a deep laceration on top of his head when the Jeep over and also bled profusely from his nose and ear eai following t the e accident with bleeding bleeding bleeding bleed bleed- ing continuing some through the night His parents report that he complains of soreness in his bac back neck and shoulder and that hi hK his face is bruised up Glen Johnson 15 son of Mr and Mrs Robert Johnson received a broken collar bone in the accident He lost a lot of skin on his hip and elbow and after a bit of rest will have X ray pictures taken to determine the Ule extent of the injury to his elbow His parents report that Glen is shaken up pretty much but that he was able to eat breakfast the Ule morning following the accident r I Max l ID 15 son of or 01 i Lur and ana anu Mrs Russell Keetch is bruised up pretty much and is skinned on his back and one arm He also has a couple of small cuts on his head His parents tell that he was up and around the day after the accident accident acci accident acci- acci dent and that he will be able to togo togo togo go back to school right away Donald Shand 14 son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Shand spent a day in bed following the accident having been shaken up pretty much His parents say he has several bruises especially on his legs but that he was not seriously injured Douglas Bessey 15 son of Mrs Rufus Ahlstrom is suffering from froma a broken collar bone and was pretty much upset after the acci acci- dent The collar bone may have been broken in two or three places but X-rays X were held up until he was rested up a bit His mother says his stomach was very upset following the accident and that he was skinned on his hL knee and hip The Jeep in which the boys were riding stopped upright after the accident and according to Dr Scars Sears the he engine was still running It was badly smashed however and Howard Jones local Jeep agent reports that the wheels seem to be sprung the top smashed in etc but that the motor and running parts seem to be pretty much intact Continued O on last page W ONE I BOY noy KILLED lULLED SIX COMPANIONS INJURED IN JEEP ACCIDENT Continued from page I l 1 Funeral to o Ix lit Held Friday Funeral services for young Dimick Dimick Dimick Dim- Dim ick will be conducted at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon by Bishop Bishup Girven Stott in the Manti North ward chapel Interment will be in the Manti cemetery under direction of the Buchanan mortuary Friends may call at the Dimick home Thursday l night and Friday until time of the tile services Val was born in St. St George June 29 1933 the son of Vernon and Bertha M.
