A attended i i 1 meeting of the Utah Congress of Parents and Teachers and executive board me meetings tings in Salt Lake City November 19 and 20 She reports that the State group discussed a resolution passed by bythe the National P. P PTA T. T A. A group on the use of so-called so Funny Books and obscene literature and that the state group voted to accept such resolution It is thought by them that many of the funny books on the m market today are a decided detriment to a child and that there is much obscene literature of one sort or another which should be stamped out Mrs Bossard Bosard reports that at present present present pre pre- sent there are about members members mem mom bers of the PTA in Utah and that the new quota is being set at As a means of getting more morp young folks to turn to the field of education the State PTA is asking asking asking ask ask- ing that each member contribute lOc to a scholarship fund to be used to aid future teachers through college Under this system students students students stu stu- dents chosen for such aid would get for their first year in college college college col col- col- col lege and if they proved worthy students would then be given ad additional additional additional ad- ad scholarship grants through college This has been tried on a avery avery avery very small scale according to Mrs Bossard and it is believed that such a program would turn many more fine students into the field of education The spring convention of the PTA will be held at Provo Prove next June 8 and 9 |
