Show Sanpete Educators Oppose Use se Of Liquor and Tobacco Superintendents principals p r i in n e c i p a l I s sand and coaches of North Sanpete School District DIstrict District Dis DIs- South Sanpete School District and Wasatch Academy went v on record Monday night December 1st as opposing op opp opposing op- op p posing the use of liquor and tobacco by participants in all competitive school activities They were also very desirous desirous desirous desi desi- rous of soliciting the support of parents parents parents par par- school faculties student bodies communities civic clubs churches and I newspapers in their drive to eliminate eliminate eliminate ate these vices These educators have endorsed such a in the past but feel that there has been some laxity in enforcement consequently a renewed effort is being made to bring about more complete cooperation by byall byall byall all people concerned This policy is to cover participants in all competitive activities such as football basketball track baseball tennis debating speech music operettas operettas operettas oper oper- ettas plays and commercial contests The group felt that altogether too of often often often of- of ten some outstanding athlete or part- part had been permitted to go on representing the school when his ex example example example ex- ex ample in the use of liquor and to to- to bacco basso has created a false set of values in those observing the competition They are not desirous of discriminating against any individual by eliminating him from competition but feel that the influence of such individuals has reaching far-reaching effects and consequently it will be necessary necessary to to eliminate them should they not change High school principals and coaches were charged with the responsibility of contacting the faculties student bodies bo bodies bodies bo- bo dies civic clubs and churches in their respective communities asking for their support in this campaign Enforcement of this policy at the present time is left in in inthe the hands of individual school faculties and district Boards of Education In attendance at the meeting were Superintendent Leland Anderson Manti Man Man- ti P.
