Show G AHAM BONNER r r tI vIes's u BIRDS' BIRDS NESTS The little house wrens were wen so small and were of such a pretty brown color Their little pointed tails stuck up Into the air and looked quite as large as their wee bodies Mrs House Wren was bus busy cleaning her house How she did work 1 And Andall Andall all the time she san sang while Mr 1 House Rouse Wren helped her or wandered oft off to find Insects for their dinner A few weeks weel s passed and they were guarding the little speckled flash col ored eggs There were six of them Six little birdies to be guarded and Mr House Jouse Wren sang a song of such sweetness and such happiness that Louis the little boy who lived nearby wondered how any cruel boy could ever take takeaway takeaway takeaway away the Joy of ot little birds Inside Mrs House Wren was sitting upon her nest In the little bird house near Louis' Louis home Every little while Mr Ir House Wren 1 t p rv i jY Trying to Defend the Little Home would bring her some goodies to eat some iome dainty little bugs hugs that she loved so well But alas One day when Louis came home he saw v an awful sight Three e big boys were climbing up the side of ot the barn near where the home of the wrens was situated Mrs House Wren had left the nest Inside and was with Mr House Wren trying to defend the little home You thieves Wretches 1 shouted Louis almost choking with sobs and horror and anger How flow dare you rob those happy birds of ot their eggs For the sake of ofa a few tew eg eggs s for tor a cruel collection which means nothing but cries of mother birds and misery you will steal steel yes jes steal 1 The bo boys s 's were not really cruel They just had never thought of It In that way But Louis was angry He was furi furl ous oils He didn't care whether they knew It was cruel or not not not-he he would show them that It was now once and for all How would you like to have hae your sisters and brothers taken from you Every single time you take an egg it t means menns that a mother bird Is crying her little bird heart out und and that a father bird has not enough heart to sing II And to think of big boys bos great reat bl blones big ones collecting little eggs little brown and white speckled eggs For shame The boys bos talked to Louis LouK He told them how he watched the birds how he knew about the birds and how he studied the birds And the they became Interested and they promised never to collect or hunt for tor birds' birds eggs again In fact they found how much more Interesting It was to watch and know birds than to steal their eggs and only have eggs to show In a cruel col col- col- col lection Now not long after that Louis watched six little brown birds being taught to fly ny And the songs that came from the throats of ot the wrens were so happy so gay How much more those songs meant than a stupid and cruel collection of eggs Happiness In the nests of birds meant so much Collections meant so lit little c- c Louis would certainly do all he could always and always to help his friends the birds |
