Show Lie Lee to Run for Senate Seat as Independent After making a check of the delegates to the Republican State Convention I am convinced that I I would have sufficient support to assure my nomination as one of the candidates for the United States Senate It is hard for any man to refuse nomination for high office by the political party he has supported in the past and especially so when so many members of this party have been good friends and supporters sup sup- porters In spite of this I feel that I would not be honest with myself nor fair to my friends if I would seek the Republican nomination To do so would compromise compromIse compromise com com- promise the position I have always al always always al- al ways taken in the past namely that the welfare of my country must be placed ahead of party success and that a political party only deserves respect and support support support sup sup- port so long as it acts in the best interest of all the people Continuously since 1932 both nationally and in this State the Democratic Party has repudiated its platform and its pledges The hrs j t I IJ Iw w J J.
