Show South Soh Sanpete Votes Tu Tues s. s p On School Bond Issue Issue- Present Needs And Future Plans Are Presented To To Voters From the Office of the South Sanpete School District Questions are being raised concerning the need of a building building building build build- ing program and whether future plans have been considered in inthe inthe inthe the present program First let us consider the needs When the buil buildings lings of our dis district district dis- dis were surveyed and compared compared compared com com- pared with other districts in inthis inthis inthis this state by a committee of competent engineers appointed by the state legislature it was found that per cent of our students were attending schools in poor or unsatisfactory school buildings This is only one of the indications we have that that we we weare are Ire definitely in ip need of sch school ol buildings Within our own district there have been for several years committees and other groups groupe who have felt this need and asked asked asked ask ask- ed the board to take lake some ac action action action ac- ac tion toward it The Elementary buildings at Gunnison Centerfield Centerfield Centerfield Center- Center field and Ephraim were among those that the state committee felt were not satisfactory educational educational edu edu- c plants They also rated our two high schools at Manti 1 and Gunnison low on physical education facilities facilities facilities facil facil- rest rooms and administrative administrative administrative adminis adminis- space The board proposes to take lake c care re of these deficiencies in their proposed program They feel that the need is urgent to give our students satisfactory buildings build build- ings for their school work Now the question of present plans fitting into future pro- pro gams I II It is not not conceivable in in any future plans that there will not he be the need for the elementary buildings in Gunnison and Ephraim Eph Eph- raim These two schools will in all the foreseeable future be used to capacity and certainly will fill a need for these children child child- ren In connection with the two I proposed gymnasiums they will also fill an urgent need of these two high schools to make them satisfactory educational plants The question as to how they nay clay fit into any future plans was put to the Committee that was called in to study the program pro gram and their answer was I The tiThe building of the two gymnasiums gymnasiums gymnasiums gym gym- would not be a waste of money because when t the h e time comes that you could af afford afford afford af- af ford one large high school at a cost of approximately dollars these two gymnasiums W v o 0 u 1 d be used as s' s Junior High Schools The board feels that these buildings are needed for o 0 our u r children and that they will fit into any program that can at athe atthe atthe the he present time be contemplated ed cd in the future |
