Show The Role Of The School Board In South Sanpete By Udell It is the desire of the Board Boardm m e m b bels bel's e rs of South Sanpete School District like all other school boards of the state to have good schools American education is based on that idea the idea that good schools are your responsibility yours and mine Boards of Education are the responsible governing bodies of the public schools They are the policy making group in ed education education education ed- ed and should be responsive responsive responsive sive to the needs of the citizens of their respective communities They are the connecting link between the public which supports supports supports sup sup- ports the schools and the professional professional professional pro pro- personnel which ad administers administers administers ad- ad ministers the schools Board members soon find that one of the boards board's biggest problems problems problems pro pro- is to manage the business affairs of the school district trying to provide the best school system the community can af afford afford afford af- af ford and at the same time trying trying trying try try- ing to save the taxpayers mon mon- ey Board members soon learn that much time and energy is spent on business matters whether it concerns one school or the en entire entire entire en- en tire district The board must try to spend its tax money wisely try to provide a school system that is big enough and good enough for all children Another important problem is getting and keeping good school personnel No other problem ismore is ismore ismore more import important nt than the matter of getting and keeping g goo good o o d teachers in every class room We Ve must try to make our district as attractive as we can to our teachers pay the best salaries salaries salaries salar salar- ies we can keep improving personnel personnel personnel per per- policies and let the teachers know we appreciate what they are doing for our children It is the boards board's job to make policy decide on the b bas basic a s i cline c cline line of action which the school di district will follow It is the Superintendents Superintendent's job to carry cut board policy and manage the schools I like to think of the board the and t the h e teachers as a team working together to together together to- to gether in the interest of t the h e schools Guardians of free educational ed educational educational ed- ed opportunity for a all 11 children n 0 |
