Show AGED PIONEER PASSES john styler died at the home of his daughter mrs enoch gillen fri day at the advanced age of 0 eighty four our he ile was born in switzerland in 1855 and came to utah when about five baars at af age he moved to mil lard county at a very early date and had resided here ever since lie ile was active in the L D S church in 1882 he married almira black in the old endowment house in salt lake city he ile Is survived by seven daughters and one son mrs hilda gillen oa sis mrs H A moore salt lake J val styler oasis mrs A G james san francisco mrs G A caproni salt lake city mrs W E baker ventura cal mrs R J christensen and mrs J C martin san gabriel cat cal there are 19 grand grandchild chil dren funeral services were held in oa sis sunday afternoon and interment was held there the speakers were marcus and mr peterson ot of oasis leo lyman of delta and john lovell of oak city A great number of his old friends attended to pay their last respects mr air styler was one of the old old timers of this vicinity having lived here since the 1870 s and was an active member la in the drama of pioneering here this entire big country was wide open then no fences and he Is recalled and written up in the biography of the hawley family as being as a cattle e man and horseman and one of the roman tic figures of the early days As a farmer he was most successful altho in the early years the pioneers met many setbacks and every spring he be was one of the crew to repair the dam when it went out mr air styler served as bishop of the oasis ward tor for many years and also tilled filled many civic duties mrs styler died some years ago and mr styler was injured in an accident which crippled him considerably and latter ly had been in poor health he ile was an outstanding pioneer figure of the community and was most highly es teemed as a friend and neighbor |
