Show FILLMORE 10 1011 01 0 OA BOND ELECTION the mayor and city council of 0 fillmore city recently set in opera tion the machinery for a bond elec elee don to enable the city to secure a P W A project for the construction of a municipal tal power plant in chalk C eek canyon under the resolution passed the city seeks power to issue the general obligation bonds of the city to the extent of 0 3 30 0 0 0 0 0 00 0 which it if issued plunges the city into the maximum debt limit permitted by the lawa laws of the state of utah for a city such as fillmore the election Is called for septem her ath at which time all qualified electors who shall have paid a prop erty tax in the year 1937 will be entitled to vote it if a majority of such voters favor the proposition of giving the council authority to issue the bonds it Is then in the hands of the council as to when and how they are issued subject to certain statu tory limitations so far we find very little interest ll Il expressed on either side of this issue to date however we are printing an article in this issue contributed by one of our subscribers wherein he states his own reasons tor for being opposed to the proposition as sub bitted to the voters at this time in this connection the manage ment of the Pro progresses greses resea wishes to state that we feel eel that the problem being presented to the voters of fill more Is one worthy of serious consid aeration and that in an effort to have all facts relative thereto pres anted to our we are inviting both sides of this situation to present their views through the local newspaper we will gladly publish any article of reasonable length pre benting either view tree free of charge and we really welcome such a articles to our newspaper the progress i dance friday night at the delta open air hall |
