| Show conf rih T law arence d 1 alb W record ifju afta 11 ll A n en ciance JOSEPH F MERRILL AND MAR VIN 0 ASHTON PRINCIPAL SPEAKERS largest attendance in several ears I 1 j the regular spring conference ot of tt L D S church in delta was h id I 1 r this past saturday and sunday with t J a record attendance the first meet ing ng opened saturday evening with J 1 the he sedik and priest boods the first hamd received rei re i ports from all of 0 the presidents ot the various quorums who reported favorably on the membership of I 1 their groups mr joseph F merrill t spoke on the responsibility of hold ing priesthood and he was followed by a talk from each degree of the priesthood riest hood namely an elder seven ty ind nd high priest while the above roup group was in session the priesthood were meeting separately I 1 I 1 being given talks by their members ind and talks by a deacon priest and bacler 0 ran ashby stake chair man of this group also gave a talk 14 the sunday sess on began at 8 30 in the stake office bul building iding with the church security plans being taken up by mr marvin ashton head ot of the commutes on beautification of church properties as the principal speaker he ile outlined the plans they mee using and laid special emphasis on ways and means of approaching the problem families the general session began at 10 in the morning with W D hilton as the opening speaker he ile was fol lowed by marcus vernon holman fondd henrie orran ashby and the principal speakers of the j session mr air ashton and mr air merrill thre were many musical numbers furnished by the hinckley choir un i der the direction of mrs myrtle wright the afternoon session took up at 2 with john henderson being ap proved as first councillor by the sutherland ward mr air henderson was ordained by mr merrill after that session E L lyman was the first speaker of the afternoon fol lowed by the returned missionaries i eldo jones irvin W jeffery and f ferrill walker mr merrill was div en the r rina bainder inder of the time he ile dwelt on church topics with depson sivility sibl lity and loyalty to the church as the main issues he ile used the teach ings in the words of wisdom tor for in spi rational guidance and showed how they bad helped many in ftfe the hinckley choir furnished tha the music for this session the meeting at 7 30 was turned 5 over to the 1 I 1 I 1 A A pageant was presented in poetry having been written by mrs airs etta tellus of hin hip ackley the pageant presented the initiation and growth of a girl in the beehive group as compared to a girl i lot ot included in this association 1 I be he beehive songs were introduced irto arto the pageant julia thornton tu d o 0 in various foreign countries id special groups of choristers sang bang je ae native folk songs of the c it as es tuned in all of the sessions were exception ally well attended and church dig nit aries are very well pleased with the conference confere nm |
