Show AS SEEN SEEA bl BIL I 1 MAN by J A mcnaughton A visit to the national capital at washington gives the impression a very large perc pere ilage of the people are attempting to t some thing out of the government I 1 have just returned from there called to testify in a railroad case the city Is crowded and it reminds me a great deal of the activity there during the world war this time it Is said there la Is a war on depression and there are plenty of recruits who are willing to help uncle sam spend ills dollars in this bloodless war with nearly five billions of dollars ampro pria ted delegations are pouring in from every part of the land with all kinds of ideas ready and willing to give the president the benefit of their op pinions in spending the bil lions of taxpayers money hotel rooms are almost ble to get and hotels and apartment house owners know that the depress ion Is over as tar far as viey diey are con berned I 1 may be wrong but it seems to me a sad commentary on the ameri amerl can people that so many are pouring into washington to get a fair ad vantage it is refreshing to get away from there and back home among real livestock people and tar far mers ft who ho are busy attending their own affairs and working out their own 8 salvation al I 1 in R the t h e old fa fashioned S h I 1 0 n ed american manner I 1 coming back through western col orada as well as western kansas tae country Is in very bad condition there has been very little moisture high winds have caused severe dust storms and there is an acute short age of both water and food tor for what livestock remains probably much of the trouble dates back to the time when a lot of good pasture land was plowed up for cultivation |
