Show PRIZE DEER STORY 11 ON 0 BY CUTLER we announced during the deer season that we would award a two year subscription tor for the prize story about hunting deer there were not many stories submitted proba bly due to the innate modesty ot of deer hunters and their fright that that it must be a tall story mr butle cutlery hearle won the sub with the following story the first day we had shot two deer in whiskey creek over on one of 0 the long ridges the second morning varlo fawn pawn jamea james raw linson and I 1 went to get them and bring them to camp we had plan ned to carry them on our backs so that when we reached the top ot of th the e ridge we decided to leave our guns rather than carry them down and up the hill we cached the guns and started down the hill about a hundred yards from the summit we heard a deer going down hill which we soon saw had a leg shot two of us ran down the hill after the buck while the other two stood on h gh points to direct the chase the deer first started down the canyon but we were able to drive it into a box canyon there we were with the deer corralee corr aled but we bad had no guns the fhe deer was right fris ky and would not allow us to get very close to it it was tossing its head from side to side inviting us to take a chance upon its horns after many passes at the wary buck 1 I was at last enabled to grab its horns without being hit and bull dog it while my brother cut its throat we then found we had three deer to 0 o pack out instead of two this story is as tall as they come ind and would win a prize in any corn petition we are very glad to give the he prize for this story and hope it indes favor with our readers we ire are inclined to boileve but you are privileged to draw your own con |
