Show CROP GF report salt lake city may 23 1934 abnormally warm weather has continued everywhere without rain streams continue to fall steadily and water supplies are very low the first cutting of alfalfa Is exceeding ly light on account of the water shortage weevils and grasshoppers other irrigated crops are in fair to good condition fall wheat is head ing and is badly in need of rain livestock are thriving on the high er ranges but are only fair on the lower range on account of drouth crops are still doing well at logan though rain is needed alfalfa dry land grain sugar beets and fruit trees are already suffering rather badly from the drouth and the water shortage in much of the salt lake valley a large acreage of beets has been abandoned and fall falls grain is at a critical stage an exceptionally light alfalfa crop is being harvested at provo and heavy rains will be ne cesary to produce the second crop and pastures and all other crops need rain mountain ranges are still good at mantl but there is very lit tie tle forage on the foothill or valley ranges some flocks being on mead aws alfalfa is already suffering foi fol want of water and seevela and grasshoppers are numerous pall fall wheat is heading as deseret and a very light alfalfa crop is about ready to cut rain is needed badly livestock are thriving on the high er ranges at duchesne but choso lower down are not so well off crops are good but frost kill ed some tended stuff on the by a drop to 24 irrigation water has been reduced to garden streams at vernal very little hay has been wat ered hot diy daiy windy weather pre availed at price flock masters have difficulty in finding feed tor for their sheep J C alter |
