Show ELSIE LAII LE IDING DRUM BUGLE CORPS AT OGDEN 4 X 4 1 t 0 tl ciul aza 3 I 1 I 1 NN P A V JW th p A ap 01 44 no r fa if il 1 q it W apas lya 1 41 0 41 lye 1 t 1 f 00 ag J 1 A 41 0 V t s kl ko f ti b the courtesy of the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE the salt lake tribune very kind ly loaned us the halt half tone cut which appears with this article and upon its receipt we ve called up mr L S dorlus who gave us the following article on the dela drum bugle corps the delta ladies drum bugle corps is composed of the following members phea rhea allred florence hagashi ruby alien allen utahna peterson isabell alien allen ivie roberts naomi bennett dale virginia berry roe ann sampson samp S luclle lucile dorlus pearl warn I 1 c mary daly belle warn warnick I 1 car may gardner donna warn warnick ck mary hopkins phyllis wright artea knight lydia whicker elsie law fern whicker the ladles ladies drum bugle corps wis organized in the spring of 1932 the instruments were owned by the ladles ladies auxiliary post of no 89 but I 1 were loaned to the high school I 1 organized the group using high school girls between the ages of 15 1 and 17 and drilled them in connect ion aith A ith my other music work in the high school during the summer of 1932 we gave a demonstration in connection with the american legion dance hed held at fillmore on august 23 we attended the american legion Conven convention tio n at st george and altho we t eligible to compete there we gave a demonstration with the contest and N ere given 25 and a souvenir medal D iring tring the winter we participated in vano vario is school activities and on jan were envied in vied to give some demonstrations in connection with the american legion district con bention at beaver on memorial day this year the entire corps visited each cemetery and participated in the ceremonies conducted by the american legion and auxiliary our first trip of importance this was to the black hawk cel ebrat eb ration lon at richfield aug ath to lith the corps was asked to re main I 1 the last day which was vas governors day to gin gle e a a demon stra tion for tae Co governor vernor and congress nan murdock Al after the demon stra ton tion the Co governor vernor came to the corps and complimented them on their tine fine work ai d was enthusiastic in his praise of their maneuvering on saturday august the girls corps was invited to the ar resort and were featured that evening at the tance the drum and bugle corps was asked to be present at the opening meeting of the auxiliary at the state convention at ogden while there we appealed several times and gave a special demonstration between the junior anc and the senior drum corps contests held there we were ton back page CORPS CONTINUED not eligible to compete at ogden either the photo shows alls elsie as drum major leading the girls at the convention at ogden we were asked to assist in the onion day celebration at payson in this week but as some of the girls are preparing to go away to school we did not accept this invitation all our trave ing has been in the killpack busses and mrs airs dorius and myself and usually some member of he auxiliary has also been along miss grace of salt lake city has returned to delta mis has taken a beauty course from which she graduated she has as her gemsts the misses nelson kelly and young of salt lake cit city who are visiting i with her in delt i this week dean stallings s n delta visiting his mother mrs airs J F roe dean has been at stanford tor for the pas winter going to school miss trula cary has returned to her home here after having visited with ft ath her sister mrs airs thos clayson 1 in idaho |
