Show BREAD MADE OF 70 YEARS OLD mrs assie C asle hiding riding loaned me a very unique relic her grandfather john steele the wee peppery fighting irishman waa was called on a mission to the moki in deans in company with jacob hamb lin in 1862 he stayed about two years and when he came back bro t a piece of the moki bread with him as a memento of his labors this p ece of bread has been in the steele family ever since and Is now about seventy years old quite an odd thing it is about the size of a plump bis coult and even now retains a sweet smell rather taint faint the texture of the food shows it to be a of coarse nature with large shiny flakes in persed which I 1 take to be the hulls of the grain whatever that grain may be the slip of paper on on it reads made of mesquite |
