MAYOR THREE TERMS RETIRES ES THANKS PEOPLE FOR SUPPORT 6 dr J E stains handed over the keys to our town to his successor william N gardner the new mayor at high noon monday dr stains has been president ot of the town council tor for three terms during which time he has honestly and capably handled the business of 0 the town tried to keep its credit good carried its burdens on his back and sweat under the worry and tor ture of public office through our ups and downs but during it all he got the full support of the townspeople had it pot biot been so he could not have car ned ried the burden of the office through that stressful period dr stains wishes to thank the peo pie in leaving the office he has the best of feelings and he is duly grate ful to his friends who at the espira tion of each term sent him back ta to succeed himself the outgoing mayor has left be hind him a good giving satis faction and of which he can be just ly y proud
