Show NL peterson resigns from school board juvenile judge N L peterson ot of hinckley president ot of the millard county school district tendered hs his resignation to the board at the regular july rue meeting eting wednesday the board reluctantly accepted the resignation but prevailed upon pres peterson to remain with them until october ath when the resigns tion will become effective the following letter from pres peterson sets forth his position I 1 in resigning hinckley utah june 28 1939 the honorable board of education fillmore utah gentlemen f I 1 have previously indicated to you that new responsibilities ties that I 1 have hav assumed of late are requiring so much ot of my time that it Is impossible tor for me to spend the time or oi give the consideration to which school work Is entitled I 1 feel a position as important as that of a a school board member should not be subordinated to any other responsibility it if conditions prevent 0 on n a tj from giving such service then in my opinion the position should be surrendered to one able to devote th tho 3 necessary time the position merits and requires I 1 have been reluctant in resigning from the board but after careful consideration I 1 ani am convinced all in teresta can be better served it if my responsibilities il I 1 ties with the school district are transferred to another per son I 1 have been connected with school work indirectly and directly tor for more than thirty years some ot of the finest experiences of my life have come through the services I 1 have tried to render and the contacts 1 ia I have made in connection with school activities I 1 shall miss these opportunities tuni ties may alay I 1 express my appreciation to the present board members and all past members with whom it has been my privilege to labor the splendid cooperation and support I 1 have enjoyed while a member ot of the board of education has been a source ot of great satisfaction I 1 value the friendship of all the school officials with whom I 1 have associated most highly to the superintendent and clerk I 1 extend my best wishes the ser vices ot of the clerk have been most efficient and I 1 doubt it if any board has one more capable the superintendent has been outstanding in his judgment his recommendations recommendation recommend atio n s have always been preceded by y careful consideration and have proven almost without exception to be right As an executive officer he has been most efficient I 1 can recommend his advice to the new members with the assurance that you may rely upon it as being given only after careful investigation I 1 shall always be interested in the progress and welfare of this district I 1 extend to each of you my best wishes tor for your continued success sincerely yours signed N L petersen following consideration of pres Peter petersons sens resignation le the board issued the following statement the board of 0 education has recognized in president N L petersen a man of 0 sterling qualities with outstanding leadership and loyalty to the cause of education they are reluctant to lionor honor his hia request to be released from his membership in the board of education and due to the many important pressing problems problem st which the board Is confronted with this season they have persuaded president petersen to remain in his present position until the october meeting when they will release him arid and appoint his successor |
