state agricultural college from december 2 to 13 according to director william peterson ot of the extension service preparations are being made on the campus ot of the state college to accommodate men and women from the various counties ot of utah who are expected to attend the short course officials announced the main teason reason tor for choosing water as the central subject in the program Is because ot of the unusual experience peri ence which utah has bad during the last three to live five years said director peterson Peter sou in commenting on the course crops and economic returns are measured by water supply home biome satisfaction and convenience are measured by municipal water supply we consider the most moat fundamental problem we have in the state of utah is a more economic analysis of the amount of water available and a stringent program tor for its proper use this does not only apply to irrigation but includes domestic supply and stock water instruction will also be given in dairying and some phases of home management and nutrition cooperation of 0 tho the farm bureau organizations the relief society the parent teacher associations and county commissioners has been solicited by the extension service authorities in fit making tho the school successful A varied program ot of entertainment has been prepared for or the delegates for or the evening hours terms to sell hatchery por ducts that represented certain requirements quire ments in one state and entirely diffrient requirements in other states stales in order to correct this condition and improve the quality of chicks tn in the entire united states funds were provided july 1 1935 tor for putting a national improvement plau plan of poultry breeding into operation by the united states department of agriculture ri the plan is a voluntary one and any breeder or hatchery inan in a state ma may not come under the plan wherever it Is adopted an official state agency responsible to the government must be set up to supervise the program the plan sets up minimum specifications ficat ions for five different stages or grades of breeding stock hatching eggs and baby chicks each of these grades has minimum requirements which must be met before one can advertise and sell that particular grado grade the lowest loest Is U S approved other grades listed in accordance with increasing quality are U S verified U S certified U S record of performance and U S record of 0 merit among other requirements U S approved chicks must be hatched in a U S hatchery and from eggs form U S approved locks flocks the U S approved flocks are to be selected tor for constitutional vigor and egg production by a selecting agent appointed by the official state agency each bird selected must be banded by a sealed and numbered legband this selection and mating must be done at least 20 days before any eggs tor for hatching are collected there are also minimum requirements for egg size shape and color sanitary conditions in the incubator and around the poultry houses and in regard to the type and weight of the chicks three degrees of 0 disease eradication have also been provided tor for in the plan in the order of increasing desirability these are to be known as tested passed and clean marry many of tiie the provisions of 0 the plan have already alread yeen been used with success in different parts of the united states and it is believed that its use will help greatly to increase the rate of egg ege production and put the poultry business in the entire country on a more desirable
