Show HUNTERS BAG MOUNTAIN LION newel warner and state highway patrolman elmer carling Carll ng local deor deer hunters had the exceptional experience ot of killing a large mountain lion last week in cedar springs canyon according to reports the hunters sighted the lion and after shooting at it several times saw it hide in a small patch of oak brush mr warner then proceeded to attempt to drive the lion from the brush while mr air carling stood ready to shoot the animal it it emerged it seems that the lion almost played tag with mr air warner while he was attempting to drive it from its hiding place however mr carling succeeded in wounding it as it came into view going up a small ravine the hunters then followed oll owed the lion up tho the canyon warner taking the trail and carling watching front rom higher up on the side hill the lion being wounded traveled a short way up the canyon and hid alongside a large log and limb of a tree mr air warner thinking he was on the trail passed within a few feet eel ot of the wounded beast without seeing it and upon loosing the trail returned to ind find that he had passed within a few ew feet of chefe it was hiding he then dispatched a shot which ended the career of the predatory killer while it la Is known that many mountain lions roam our mountains it is seldom that a casual hunter has the opportunity of 0 seeing one these hunters claim and we are willing to take their word for it that it gave them a great thrill to bag such a prize |
