Show D U P MARKER celebration A SUCCESS august 2nd and and 3rd ard witnessed even a better celebration here than had been expected everything scheduled on oil the rather elaborate program took place in very pleasing and presentable fashion the celebration began officially the afternoon atter of august 2nd and at cove fort A caravan ot of local citizens loft left here the early part ot of the afternoon to attend and participate in that program the purpose ot of the pr program of 0 course was to dedicate an official marker of the daughters ot of the pioneers piones rs which was unveiled at historic old cove fort the marker was dedicated by bryant S hinckley who was born in the old tort fort mrs oscar kirkham a state official of the D if U P was another speaker music alusic was furnished by the llie millard county high school band and the richfield Richtie ld drum and bugle corps A shaul sham indian raid on the tort fort was the last number of the program and was done with very realistic effect the cove fort program was very well attended considering the distance that had to be traveled besides the large caravan that left from here large crowds also came from richfield beaver and even a group of about sixty people from froin proto tile the events of the second day at fillmore are common information to practically everyone in eastern millard county and have therefore ceased to be news the splendid parade program sports spoils of various kinds and lancing dancing were well enjoyed not only by the people of this locality but also by one of 0 tile the largest crowds of visitors and old residents ever to as tremble ble in fillmore clie local daughters of tile the pioneers pioneer s wish to express their thanks to all that assisted and helped them and particularly to governor and mr blood state officials of the D U igind Ug 41 aind ind neighboring camps thru out tire state who were so generous in their assi stence they are particularly ticul arly grateful to the people who spent their time and means in participating in the splendid parade to miss iris robins as county queen miss norda finlinson as miss pioneer from west millard miss edith as miss pioneer from scip lo 10 miss aliss helen george as miss plo neer from kanosh miss nola swallow as miss pioneer from Ale meadow adow miss mary day as miss hilss pioneer from fillmore miss lula jensen as god f ss as miss dolly huntsman as utah ot of 1935 mrs airs emily ray hay as utah of 0 1847 if B mace as brigham young john davies as anson call the melville family float charles davies with his hand gait and the costumed indians pioneers and clowns |
