measure that ns as it stands will reduce tax revenues an estimated in it the meantime some 67 revenue in aart taxation bills many of which are 01 it if the pension and exempt exemption iou measures are arc to be made possible of operation rest in committees awalt await ing final action so many of these measures have been sidetracked that the joint appropriation I 1 committee early last week sent communications to bol houses notifying the members that the appropriations bill the greats hurdle which the legislature has to clear cannot be framed until action Is taken on oil the delayed measures the joint committee urged that thai these measures be called forth and considered the committee made it clear that it was impossible to coin ply with the rule which requires the appropriation bill unfinished legislation in its closing days mot moc 0 than 5 00 measures have been presented to the two houses of these aj lills and 8 resolutions have been finally acted upon and signed by the governor twenty measures have live been killed and the balance are halling tire ire in tho the two branches noun nono of 0 the major issues including revenue and taxation welfare and relict ilef direct primary liquor control and revenue has been finall finally y acted upon so persistently has a majority moJo rity 0 of the lite legislature adhered to the so called cart before the horse method of procedure that the legisla legislative tivo committee of the state democratic organization in alarin has flashed a warning to the lawmakers in the form ot of a written placed on oil the desk of 0 every representative enta tive tivo and senator at the close of 0 the week reiterating the plea for sate safe and sane caution voiced by governor blood and adding a warning that the legislature stop look arld and listen before trying to beat the tran train to the crossing ot of legislative prudence and extravagant expenditure pensions home exemption and liquor were the chiet chief issues before the legislature during the past weel week the senate dumped its old ag age e pen sion bill and the administration welfare measures into the lap of 0 the house together they went to the house judiciary committee which re ported the pension bill out without recommendation and the administration bills favorably ordinarily a bill lion bills favorably ordinarily a bill without recommendation takes position on the calendar following bills on the same subject which are arc favorably reported but in the case of the pension bill and the welfare measures this custom was upset the order of business for the day was made up to show allow the pension bill following to allow the welfare measures but through some hook or crook which aroused the ire of representative granger chairman of the judiciary committee and brought from him a vigorous but bat unavailing protest when the committee reports wert read the doport on oil S B 2 2 the ser sen ate pension bill was read read first an am tills this bill was ordered to the calenda ahead ot of the administration meas urea rep hep granger made a deter mined effort to have all the bill considered together before any was passed but the speaker ruled that S B 2 was at the head of the calendar and was the only measure before the house tor for consideration he apparently was supported by a majority of the house so ao the administration bills were sidetracked and S B 2 was opened tor for consideration representative granger warned tha S B 2 did not comply with edera requirements and federal aid might be jeopardized but ills his warning felt upon deaf ears tor for after a halt half day of debate the measure was passed by a vote of 53 to 4 with 3 absent the administration welfare bits were let left on oil the calendar while the house proceeded with other matters however the house did inject some minor amendments into the pension bill which required confirmation by the senate and passage re of the bill as amended by the upper body tills this came near being the death of the measure tor for the vote showed that it did not have tho the constitutional majority to repass re pass it however the author the senate president saw the
