Show GOVERNOR AND legislative COMMITTEE AGREE ON BUDGET PROPOSAL the alio general accord existing between members s of the twenty second utah legislature and governor ilen ry II 11 blood was well exemplified last week ahel tho the joint senate and house appropriation committee and the chief executive reached a 1 harmonious inon lous agreement on problems arla ing in connection with the budget proposed tor for tile the coming biennium discussing the states fiscal policy to be adopted governor blood and committee members found themselves sitting on the same side of the fence relative to expenditures beconi mended by the former tile the committeemen agreed that it would be the proper r procedure tor for them to work in close harmony with the governor in achieving a balanced budget they extended him a voto vote of coll confidence and appreciation in accepting his proffer of cooperation governor blood explained in considerable sid erable detail why it had been found necessary to provide tor for some increases in state slate expenditures the committee then announced that a tentative appropriation bill already prepared might bo be revised after study of state institutional and departmental needs the executives budget as submitted calls for expenditures of 63 10 during the two years beginning july 1 1937 for the support of 0 various state institutions and departments this Is over overa a million dollars less than the total requests for funds made by heads of institutions and departments increased costs of government due largely to restoration of amounts cut from salaries during the depression and growing costs of maintaining state institutions because of increased food costs are given as the chief reasons tor for the advance in budgeted items |
