Show BAND REGISTERS COMPLAINT to whom it may concern we tile the members of 0 the millard iilah school band are unanimous in feeling that in the past the band has boon been mistreated and abused by many of 0 the organizations of 0 aas east t millaid county A few ow organizations and many individuals have appreciated the band and have shown this appreciation in a minner manner tor for which we are arc truly grateful time and space will not allow a detailed description of the many forms of mistreatment the band has received but we should like to list a few 1 promises are made and seldom kept 2 transportation slid and meals are neither provided nor paid for 3 no particular pel son of the organizations we are asked to serve is responsible to the band or for the band 4 1 I alaby times we ale aie asked to pay admission prices to the occasion at which we ale to appear as part of 0 the program 5 we are expected to play some soine where on oil every holiday or celebration 6 very often organizations fail to say thank you when we are through with our pait of the lie program they evidently assume that it is our responsibility to appear when they snap their fingers 7 we aie criticized dining the slimmer tor for not being a hand of full membership the critics do not realize that each member of that summer band has to pay his own way vay to and from every practice during the summer months the band proposition as it now stands Is this every band member has to invest from 50 to in a band instrument practice diligently from one to four years at lionie home and in ili the junior band stand all incidental expenses such as music horn extras etc and buy shoes socks shirts ties and all other clothing necessary to comprise our uniforms beffie lie he is eligible for a full fledged membership thereafter lie 1 is allowed to play etli with the band at all celebrations provided lie he will pay his own way play at banquets and special occasions it if lie he Is willing to donate the price ot of admission to the cause and is given the privilege of rising eaily in ili order to catch a ride on the lie back of 0 an open air truck in order to march in ili some parade for an ail hour sit through a two and a halt half hour program play at some ball game for two hours and put all the effort he has left toward a concert at the races provided lie he Is strong enough to quell the desire to lie in ili bed the morning a after the night before and enjoy the holiday as a good citizens rights say he may and finally lie he is granted the right of taking his band lesson at school during the noon hour the only time all members can meet together provided he has enough loyalty to give up skating tennis and all other noon spoils arid and incidentally dinner all of which are provided tor for normal students we do not mean to kick at this tor for we that due to the crowded curriculum band cannot be held at any other time lime with success tor for otherwise it lias has been tried and failed we realize that we ne are placed in ili a position where this sacrifice is inevitable this proposition mixed with tile the afore mentioned abuses ii lias a s caused some members of 0 the band to react in ili a manner which has stimulated undue in ili the direction of 0 our bandmaster mr air degrees do not go high enough to describe proper properly the manner manlier in ili which we feel mr air ills fills ills his position us and we are one hundred percent behind him dut but we band members have le solved and agreed that in tile the future as far as the band is concerned it is going to be a new deal or no deal we take this opportunity to say that this action Is not sanctioned by any faculty member or by the student body and any criticism constructive or otherwise is to come directly to us the central committee and band raymond Kin iball chairman of central committee 0 |
