Show ORSON PIONEER DIES AT SCIPIO HOME orson wooden the son of the lato late thomas and mary died at hla his home hero here on february in his eighty third year he was wag born in ashton yorkshire england on september 27 1860 and came to america with his family in 1855 they all joined the L D 3 church in england he came to SCIPIO in 1868 and has been here ever since in 1875 ho he married annie brown who died four our years ago two sons earl of 0 scipio and elmer of los angeles and two daughters mrs rills 0 of scipio and an dAirs mrs E evans of salt lake city survive also thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren the deceased was a man of sterling quality honest and upright and very religious ile he was a great church worker and sang in the village choir tor for many years ho he was a farmer and a stock ralser owning quite a bunch ot of sheep at ono one time and later a herd of 0 range cattle ile he was happy and contented with the simple joys of life and had the happy faculty of making the best of everything ile he was very patriotic and a great home lover andia and it there were more people ot of his calibre we would need never fear ear any communistic uprisings in our country funeral services were held from tho the ward meeting house at two 0 clock on friday afternoon and were largely attended bishop J wells robins conducted the meeting the choir sang oh my father who are these arrayed in white and farewell all earthly honors mr and mrs airs burke mathews sang home the speakers were e lars jenson and leonard A robins jesse B martin offered the ino catlon cation and J P olsen pronounced the tha benediction interment was in the city cemetery out ot of town people attending the services were jonathan leamaster ot of juab elner of los loa an geles gelesh mrs airs Es E evans and daughters grace and emma ot of salt lake city mr and mrs afro daniel nielson clelaon mrs dora chase and mrs airs lona iona boswell of 0 Af emmott mrs afro wayne day and children of kanosh have returned home after a visit with mrs airs days parents mr and mrs afro lars jenson the scipio and draper al mens alens basketball teams played a good game here on saturday night the visitors won the american legion entertainment and dance held on wednesday afternoon and night were a big success the argonauts orchestra furnished the music tor for the dance which was attended by big delegations from kanosh fillmore holden levan and salina |
