Show ADVICE TO POULTRY MEN AIEN utah Poultry men should teed feed their broilers to a weight of 0 a pound and a halt half to two pounds each dressed it they would secure greatest possible returns this season says charles P rudd manager of the poultry department part ment utah poultry producers cooperative association at least tor for the present the heavier birds are in fit greatest demand and are bringing the highest prices it is indicated as the 1932 broiler shipments are prepared tor for market the price differential in fit favor of the heavier birds over the tha lighter ones will much more than compensate for the relatively small extra expenditures tor for teed feed necessary to build up the additional weight this is particularly true in face of present low feed costs the poultry association has installed new equipment at its poultry plant 45 west seventh south street salt lake including new coolers and other oilier machinery and is now beginning the feeding and dressing of broilers for market A force of 30 girls is now working dressing the birds and this force will be increased as the season advances the poultry dressing activities of the association inaugurated on a largo large scale last year are doing much to better producers returns and benefit the state generally by sending out a finished product ready for market instead ot of live birds A reluctance of 0 buyers to store broilers this season bro brought tight about by heavy carryovers carry overs of frozen birds from roni last year and the unusual number of battery brooded blooded birds will undoubtedly react somewhat ably on oil the market since it will force practically the entire broiler production into consumptive channels at almost the same time it was pointed ou A decidedly decreased production this year however is expected to greatly offset this unfavorable condition and help hold prices at a reasonable level most alost of dressed broilers will be marketed on oil the pacific coast where tile the associations milk white pack is building up tip a reputation comparable to that enjoyed by other oilier bee hivo hive state poultry products prodUCt 3 |
