campaign in which the issues were so extensive in nuni num i ber and at al the same time so serious in their import it the discussions can be kept upon ft level with the issues involved it will be a campaign worthy of the intelli gence ence 9 and patriotism of the great american electorate in the cam balgas ot at the past we have bare had our j problems ot of government ot of human freedom great political questions question we now have our economic problems problem and they are no less vital to the happiness and in my judgment to the freedom ot at the people than the Is 1 sues which have bare been settled by the voters in other campaigns my feeling Is that people look serl bously upon the issues of at the cam laign they feel deeply there Is more voluntary political activity than I 1 have bare over seen in a campaign this interest Is a healthy condition of affairs it is the most gratifying feature thus thill lar far of at the contest voters independent it may not be quite orthodox to say ay so but I 1 have also discovered an independence of thought and action upon the abe part of the voters that Is t refreshing as well as encouraging no political party Is entitled to win unless its candidates and their post lions upon public questions command the tb confidence of the majority ot of the t electorate instead of a political party tearing fearing it ought to covet tb the earnest and sincere initiative upon the part of the individual voters rela tive to public questions the republican party has nominated a candidate whose intellectual and moral equipment whose years of at arduous things done and achieved singularly and especially fit him h aln to organize and harness these great economic forces la in harmony with bound business and at the same time in harmony with the rights of tile masses born in humble bumble station acquainted yath with adversity taking his steps step slowly but with a sure purpose now a master of economic principles principle and theories an
