Show ltha itha stevens writes to i t the he home folks north st lincoln nebraska march 30 1928 the progress fillmore utah dear editor I 1 have been so long in fit writing to you that you have possibly given up hopes ot of hearing from me I 1 would feel a little ungrateful i if I 1 were to return without dropping you a line to thank you kindly for sending the home paper it has been a source of joy to me every time I 1 received it I 1 since being in the mission field I also wish to send my very best 1 wishes to my many friends at home and consider the progress a very convenient means of doing so I 1 desire to show them that I 1 still think of them and am interested in fit what they are doing I 1 ant am at present located in it the city of 0 lincoln it is a city of great interest perhaps because one of the largest universities in ili the middle west Is located here there are over students enrolled in it alone one there Is also a large number enrolled in the agriculture and business colleges ot of the city it is also tinted tor for the ministers colleges in ili my tour over the city a few days ago I 1 visited the homes of 0 win J bryan and general pershing A few months ago my companion tract ed general pershing and talked to him face to face lie treated her very kindly and spoke well of our 1 church the ithe work work of 0 the master alaster is truly I 1 k t iding ili 11 these parts the I 1 hes ot of the whole mission are 1 i y increasing in number our I records show that there were baptisms in fit the mission last year that was better than it has been for or years the people are being taught tile the principles ot of the gospel and respond readily bearing testimonies to the truths the branch which I 1 am laboring in la is small but and fulfilling its purpose to the missionary this work is very gratifying to feel a firm conviction that one ts Is carrying a means of sal to this people is a joy unspeakable to see trie tender fruit which results even front from one feeble effort gives one cause to enter heart and soul in placing the light liblit before the honest searchers tor for truth among this people I 1 like this country but yet I 1 ant am very proud of 0 my birthplace and what it has done tor for me there is splendid cooperation among the home people and where there is unity there la Is strength which will open up vast possibilities when the cause Is a just one with all the good people at home I 1 look hopefully to a better millard and a stronger church wherever it is established upon the earth may alay the blessing of the lord be felt among you all I 1 pray sincerely yours itha stevens holden utah |
