without h license unlawful it II shall be b unlawful tor for any person or persons partnership co corporation association a or joint stock company to engage in fit or caay carry on any business trade profession or calling for which license is herein without first obtaining the license required by this ordinance tor for such business trade profession or calling section 2 applications how license issued record all applications tor for licenses shall be made in writing to the city recorder and all licenses shall be issued and signed by the city recorder Rec under the seat seal of the city the recorder shall keep an alphabetical list of licenses issued stating the number name time of issuance place and kind ot of business and the amount paid with i such r lie additional a le addi information as may be considered on necessary section 3 WHAT LICENSE SHALL CONTAIN assignment every such license shall specify the name of the person firm 0 or r corporation as the case may be to whom it shall be issued and shall designate the place where such business is to be car carried r aed on and shall set forth briefly y but distinctly the kind of business no license issued under the proviso ons of this ordinance shall be in fit an manner assigned or transferred trans ferrell un less the assignor shall first the permission of the mayor of jhc thc th city endorsed thereon section 4 LENGTH OF TIME OF LICENSE licenses for any trade business or profession for which a yearly license Is required may be issued tor for terms of six months upon payment of one halt of the amount of the yearly allowed to sell or to expose tor for sale by way ot of vending or auction auy any property properly in the limits ot of said city without first obtaining a license for or such purposes tor for which such person or persons shall pay into the city treasury the sum of 0 fitly fifty dollars section 9 HOTELS DEFINED for the purpose of this section a hotel shall be deemed to be every building bull ding or other structure and all buildings kept used maintained as or advertised as or held out to the tha public I 1 to be a place whore where sleeping accommodations are furnished tor for pay to transient or perm permanent ancar guests in which five or more rooms are for the accommodations thereof every hotel keeper shall make a statement as to the location of the house building or other structure used kept maintained as or held out to tho the public to he be a hotel as defined herein the number of the rooms kept tor for hotel purposes and the number of persons which said hotel will accommodate which statement shall be verified before the mayor or city recorder the recorder shall file all such statements and yearly licenses may be issued thereon as follows for hotels containing contain ig five rooms and nd not exceeding ten the yearly license shall be 10 00 for hotels containing more than ten rooms and not exceeding fifteen the yearly license shall bo be 1500 for hotels containing more thau fifteen rooms the yearly license shall la be 2000 section 10 restaurants definition fini tion A restaurant keeper for tha purposes of this section shall be deemed to be any person who shall for any consideration furnish food in any quantity to be eaten upon the premises where sold within the limits of F fillmore city it shall be unlawful tor for any person or persons to commence or carry on the business ot of a restaurant keeper without first a license so to do each applicant for a restaurant keepers license shall file a 9 verified statement with tho the city recorder showing the location of his place of bli business siness and the number of persons which such restaurant can accommodate at any one time the yearly license for restaurant keeper shall be 1000 section 11 GARAGE defined for the purpose of this section an automobile garage shall be deemed to be why any place or establishment where automobiles or self propelled vehicles are ard cleaned repaired housed or kept in order and where a charge Is made tor for such service orvice it shall be unlawful tor for any person partnership co or corporation to engage in the business of keeping conducting managing or operating an automobile garage within the limits of fillmore city without first obtaining a license so to do all persons required to pay a license under tho the Provi provisions hereof shall pay annually in advance to the city treasurer tha sum of 2000 section 12 SLAUGHTER HOUSES it shall be unlawful for any person to slaughter any animals or for or any person to erect any slaughter house or yard or engage in fit the bustness business ot of slaughtering at any place placa other than such as may be designated by the city council without obtain ing a license tor for such purposes for which such person shall pay into the city treasury the tha sum bum ot of SOO pro hat bat this section shall not be construed to prohibit persons is fro from killing their own animals tor for their own home consumption section 13 all persons persona licensed as butchers or slaughters shall keep keel a book or record in which they shall record a faithful description of the age size and color of the animals killed by them or their agents with the brands and marks thereon the time when killed and the name of tho the person from whom received which record shall be open to inspection by the public section 14 SLAUGHTER TO BE KEPT CLEAN all persons persona engaged in the business of butchering or slaught slaughtering erini within the limits ot of the city are hereby beroby required to thoroughly cleanse their slaughter houses and yards as often as ma may y be necessary to keel them in a clean and sanitary condition and to remove and dispose of all offal in such manner and at such aiace or places as may bo be designated by the city marshall section 15 inspection it shall be the duty of the city marshal or his deputy to visit the slaughter houses within ilie the limits of the city as often as rray may be necessary to inspect the looks books and examine them tor for the purpose of determining whether or not a faithful record is being kept of all animals killed and that the houses and yards are kept thoroughly clean and sanitary as herein provided section ag PENALTY any person violating the provisions of this ordinance in relation to butchers and slaughterers slaughter ers shall be liable to a fine in fit any sum not less ices than 1000 and not more than section 17 LIVERY STABLES A livery stable keeper shall be deemed to be one who keeps tor for hire horses carriages or other vehicles every livery stable keeper shall make a statement of the number of animals carriages and other vehicles of all descriptions kept by him which statement shall be duly sworn to before the mayor or city recorder the city recorder shall file all such statements and yearly licenses shall bo be issued theron as follows for ten vehicles and over per annum 50 00 for five to ten vehicles per annum 2500 for less than live five vehicles 0 section 18 BANKERS BROKERS 1 or MONEY CHANGERS every banker broker or money changer shall before carrying on oil or commencing his business make a statement under tinder oath of the value or the amount of capital employed in such business upon receipt of such sworn statement and the amount of th the e yearly license hereinafter provided yearly licenses shall be issued thereon as follows upon a capital of less than 10 and over the license libens shall be upon a capital of 00 and not under the license shall be upon a capital of less than 25 and when no capital is employed section 19 PEDDLERS AND HAWKERS it shall be unlawful tor for any person to carry on the bustness of hawking ped bedling ling or to offer for sale barter or exchange at retail any garden or farm produce butter eggs poultry medicine or other goods wares or merchandise within the limits of filimore city without first having obtained EL a license section 19 s x LICENSES PAYABLE IN ADVANCE licenses tor for hawking peddling etc as described in the next preceding section shall be payable in advance and may be issued tor for the period of a year upon payment of the following sums a license to peddle vegetables garden gardepe products tb butter utter egg and poultry 1000 fora license to peddle fruit provided that nothing herein shall be deemed to have application with a capital ot of or over for a mill employing less lees than 2500 section 21 miscellaneous UA LICENSES AMOUNTS ETC every person pei son before pursuing or engaging in any business vocation or
