boon extremely busy se gregat ing tho the lands in it and sitting sifting out those lands which the water by mean ot of tho the main canal would not cover Pett lons ions of people who already had water tor for their lands and therefore did not want to buy more had to be considered as had also those w enosa iose lands were tit in such a condition that more water would ruin them to say nothing of those farmers whose land would not bo be benefited by tho the water by reason reabon of the tact fact that their lands lay above the canal after unremitting effort on tile the part of tho the board this work was wag accomplished and a date set tor for the bond election at which it was proposed to vote 1600 worth 0 of bonds bond 8 with which to to purchase wa water r tor for tit the e district some tear fear was expressed that tho the bond election would tall fall but those whoa who felt that way were agreeably surprised at the information received that the election had carried without one single dissenting vote proving vang that the farmers of at east mallard 1111 lard whose lands were included in the district were sincere in their wish for water with which to develop the lands now laying idle die and which havo lain idle for far many years except tor for the few acres which have hava been dry farmed the board of directors met on monday ol of this week to canvass tho the returns of the election which was waa held on an Satu saturday rilay last with the result as above stated they immediately authorized engineer T dark clark callister to proceed with the work of completing pl eting tins me main canal from where it had been left leftgoff loff abo work having been een delayed on account of at not know ing whether tile the bond election would carry or not numerous contracts for the construction of the canal had been let to various farmers who had the option of taking either cash or water shares for their work but who had not completed their contracts pending the settlement of at the bond election now that this point has been settled the work will be rushed with all possible speed to completion and it la Is confidently expected that tho the canal will be completed ready for the water within the tho next thirty days at tho the outside As soon as the canal is completed the water will bo be turned in and will be ready for irrigating this years crops this end of the business and also see sec to the matter of tho the purchase of tho the bonds as this la Is a point which yet remains to bo be settled bottled it is understood that although tile the present district ex extends tenda only to the chalk creek there Is a proposition underway to establish a high line canal and a pumping station which will tako take care of many more acres of land not diat now in the district and altogether the future of tills this part ot of east millard has taken on a very rosy hue it means that this part of the county will become a veritable agricultural empire as there Is nothing in tho the agricultural line which can be raised in the temperate zone which cannot be raised hero heits it means that wo we shall have an influx of new farmers to this part of
