Show DRY HOMESTEAD regulations secretary of the interior ballinger has har approved regulations governing the filing and perfecting of acre dry farm homesteads under the act passed at the recent regular session of oon con gress the new law in applicable to lands in colorado montana and nevada oregon utah washing ton wyoming arizona and new mexico the regulations provide for the makin making of entries for acres of non mineral non timber public land in the above named states and terri territories territory tori es only non irrigable ble land is construed to mean land which as a rule lacks sufficient 41 1 rainfall to produce agricultural crops without the necessity of resorting rego efting to 16 un usual methods of 0 cultivation such as dry farming LANDS WITHHELD lands containing g merchantable timber mineral lands or lands which may inay be irrigated at a re reasonable cost from any known source of water supply may not be entered under this act and no entry shall embrace morie more than 40 acres of land susceptible cep tible fible of irrigation from ngi natural sources lands subject to entry under this act will be designated as ae such from time to time and lists thereof sept sent to the register and receiver of the proper local land office ce until such li lists ats have been received by the local land officers no application to enter will be received entries must be in a reasonably compact form and in no case exceed one and one half miles iu im length entry men for forland lands here shere to fore entered of a character eba which would bring them within i tile provisions of this act maa may if final proof has not been made and upon the classification and designation of their lands as fall f all ing within the provisions of aliis y act ac t make an entry antry the aggregate of both entries not to exceed acres 0 T 0 N T oi onee one eighth odthe area agthe af tile entry basteen has bas been continuously cultivated to agricultural crops beginning with the second y year ear of the entry and that at least one fourth has ben cultivated begin ning with tile third year of the entry and continuing to date of final proof the 1 law aw prohibits the commutation of either the original or additional entries made under this act section 6 of the law relates exclusively clu to lands in utah which do not have sufficient water suitable for dor domestic purposes as to render canth continuous etious residence possible Entry men of such lands tt at f ter they have been designated as corn eing within the provisions ions of the act will not be required to prove continuous ence but they must reside within wallin well such a distance from the lanit land entered as will enable them to it successfully farm the same as a required by tile the act entries made under this section cannot be commuted Entry men must show aliat not less than one olle eighth of the land entered was cultivated during the second year not less then hen one fourth during the third year and not less than one hall balf during duing du ing the fourth and fifth years after entry applications AS USUAL applications and proofs may be made before the usual officers the first designation of lands outside of wyoming will be made from data now available in the course of the next thirty days and the lists of such lands forwarded to the respective local land oi offices rices within which time the formal regula regulations will rao be issued V T t |
