| Show FIRE shortly after midnight last sunday runday night a fire alarm was given iven and abd it was soon discovered that ali at the fillmore post office was avas in flames A large crowd of anxious anxious workers soon gathered but there was no running water within three blocks of the building for a time it looked as though the large building owned by the stevens mercantile tilo co would burn but through the good man argement of the crowd present this disaster was averted and the flames were soon under cou con rol buckets were used to carry water from froin neighboring wells and puddles until the water from tho the main ditch reached the spot by this time the post office harness shop and a large shed was burned to the ground the stevens mercantile and the suffer euffer e ed some slight damage tile the post ofFice effects were wed all destroyed des toyed ind aud the contents of the harness shop wore were almost totally des destroy troy od ed altogether the file damage will amount to 1000 partially cov ered cred by insurance his urance it is riot not vet known how tho the fire started j but it is believed to have been the work of an incendiary an ali investigation however lio wever is being made by the post office department together with the united states marshall and sheriff black and it is believed f they will soon have the offender behind prison bars moral boost the water work eystein for all you are worth if V plenty of water could have been lind hai at the moment the contents of both these places would have been saved |
