Show FIFTH ANNUAL INTERMOUNTAIN STOCK SHOW Salt Lake. March 30 Stock to be exhibited at the fifth annual Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Livestock show, which opens on Monday and continues through Thursday o next week, is arriving daily at the Union stockyards stock-yards in North Salt Lake. The first shipments are from distant localities principally points in Nebraska, as the owners are anxious to rest their stock and place it in tiptop condition conditi-on by the opening date of the show. Exhibits from the close vicinity are expected Saturday and Sunday. More than 100 car loads of purebred pure-bred cattle, swine, sheep and dairy stock will be on display. Every arrangement ar-rangement has been made at the stockyards for giving the valuable exhibits the best of care and attention. atten-tion. With the employment of an additional ad-ditional force of men, the finishing touches are being put on the new building, which will house the dairy and breeding stock. J. H. Mander-field. Dorman, chairman of the educational ed-ucational staff, has secured the services ser-vices of county agricultural agents and others to act as guides. These guides will accompany all visitors in attendance at th eshow and explain the various exhibits. Special attention atten-tion will be given children in order that they may benefit by the "educational "educa-tional features. There will be a special car service to and from the stockyards over both the city and Bamberger electric lines Each car will be met by automobiles, which will take the visitors to the yards free of charge. The show opens on Monday, though the grand opening open-ing will take place on Tuesday, which will be Salt Lake day. All Salt Lake civic clubs will be represented in a parade of automobiles, which will leave the Commercial Club for the stockyards early Tuesday afternoon. after-noon. Monday and Tuesday will be taken up with the judging and awarding aw-arding of prizes. On Tuesday evening there will be a special athletic carnival carni-val at the Salt Lake theatre. The auction of fat cattle, sheen and hogs will take place on Wednesday. Wednes-day. The sale of breeding cattle, both dairy and beef types, and the boys' and girls' club offerings is set for Thursday. Fred Huffman, manager of the Cudahy Packing company, announces an-nounces that all available fat stock will be purchased either by local packers or representatives of out of town concerns. Firms in Loa Angeles San Francisco, Chicago and Kansas City will be represented. Dr. R. N. Mead, managing director, says that the total sales will run in excess of 53. 000, 000. David A. Smith, chairman of the committee in charge, will preside at a banquet to be given by the Commercial Com-mercial Club for the exhibitors and Salt Lake business men on Wednesday Wednes-day evening. Covers will be laid for 250. There will be special vaudeville numbers on the program and a big wrestling match in which Ira Dern. world's middle-weight champion, will be one of the principals. The speakers will include Governor Ma-bey, Ma-bey, President F. C. Scramm of the Commercial Club and W. W. Armstrong, Arm-strong, president of the National ' Copper Bank. - Correspondence received by Dr. Mead, shows that a number of late entries are being made. It was announced, an-nounced, however, that space will be provided for all animals and that they may be entered as late as 6 p. m., Saturday, April 1. Late swine entries have necessitated the building build-ing of additional pens, which will be completed before Monday. |
