Show ? WOOL The consumption of wool by eastern east-ern manufacturers is rapidly absorbing ab-sorbing the surplus, and it is expected expect-ed that within a short time there will be a real demand for western j wool. The ranchers have been giv- j en protection by federal loans, which; has caused a pronounced advance i in sheep as well as in cattle. The duty du-ty on wool in the grease is 15 cents a pound and 4 5 cents on scoured wool, while a double duty is provided i on skirted wools. In the old Payne-j j-Vldritch bill skirted wools came in; cn the same basis as other grades, in spite of the increase in shrinkage which allows about double the amount am-ount of wool per pound as was possible pos-sible to import under the remaining classifications. It is said that there is already a shortage of some classes of wool in the East, and therefore it s expected that eastern buyers will soon be in the west. The protective tar'ff and the liberal loaning of mon-pyTay mon-pyTay the administration has saved the stock interests of the westsrn country from bankruptcy and ruin. Ely Record. |
