| Show Lois Allred Frosh Should Learn From Soph Edition The sophomore class is taking over the editing of The Chronicle this week to demonstrate to the school the varied unusual talents and exceptional qualities which this class Another goal of this paper is to show the freshmen how to put out a Chronicle next The idea of having the sophomore class edit a Chronicle was originated by Val president of the sophomore class during the year 1939 to Hays Gorey was appointed editor and in April the first sophomore edition of the Chronicle was Hays Gorey became editor of the his junior year and at the present time is city editor of the Salt Lake The sophomores have published a Chronicle every year since the first paper in The following year the job of editor was given to a woman Kathleen Paul Cracroft was editor in 1942 and Tex Barron edited the traditional issue in Last year Bob Cutler occupied the key position on the sophomore Some sort of red decoration has always been used in the front page of the paper to distinguish it from the weekly issues and to counteract the green color which characterizes the freshman Other noticeable changes in the paper this week are the excellent news clever features which definitely contain the type of humor preferred by college students jokes of a first hand society columns without the old and sport stories packed with up-to-date For the benefit of the freshman the sophomore staff would like to submit the following helpful suggestions on how to put out a paper better than this Don't listen to any advice from Cutler or any other mem-pers of the regular for they may try to discourage you by telling you some of- the trials and tribulations they go through every Never mind giving out any assignments for news Just print the news that flows into the office daily by the rumor Try cooking up some sort of a queen Queen stories always go over They happen so seldom and the results are so unpredictable that you can always create enthusiasm among the students so that everyone will rush to get a It isn't hard to keep the results a secret from the downtown Just tell the girls who win to be sure not to tell Never worry about the Everything will run as smoothly as if you had been putting out the paper for if in the end the results aren't what you don't feel You'll have a chance to redeem yourselves when you are By then you may be able to equal the edition published by this year's sophomore But we doubt |
