Show LOS ANGELES PLANS TO GRAB WATER FROM THE COLORAD. The Mahave Miner, published at Kingman, Arizona, one of the most influential papers of the state, is of the opinion that Los Angeles is preparing pre-paring to grab from the Colorado paring to grab water from the Colorado Colo-rado river to be used in Los Angeles, Angel-es, and take the chances of settlements settle-ments through the courts after it has actually secured the water. This was the policy adopted by Los Angeles An-geles when it secured the water from Bishop creek. Los Angeles already has a corps of engineers in the field surveying for a pipe line from the Colorado river to the city which work is under the charge of William Mulholland, who engineered the Bishop creek project, which at that time was considered a splendid engineering en-gineering feat. That there is as great possibility of taking the water of the Colorado river through to Los Angeles as there was in bringing in of water from Bishop creek Is a surity, but the heading must be at some point near Boulder canyon, where the proper elevation may be obtained. The distance dis-tance will be close to 500 miles, taking tak-ing the aqueduct across the low pass in he San Gorgonias a great amount of rnwer might be created. While Arizona whinper-snppners are balling things p in refusal to ratify the compact, Los Angeles will posses? Itself of the grapes. |
