Show TO ORGANIZE AMERICAN LEGION , '; POST IN MILFORD Veterans to Hold Meeting Saturday Evening to Plan Post BANQUET TO FOLLOW y World War veterans will meet in S Milford this Saturday evening to take preliminary steps to organize an American Am-erican Legion post in Milford. The meeting will be attended by some twenty or thirty Legionaires from Beaver who are lending local men their aid in getting a Milford post to functioning. Efforts are being made to have one of the state officers here, who will assist in the initiation. Local vets have secured the Odd Fellows hall where the meeting will be held at 7:00 A. M. Clarence D. Sweet is chairman of the committee which is active in organizing or-ganizing the ex-service men. Sweet has been a member of Beaver post for two years. The. procedure at the meeting Saturday involves initiating the new Legionaires into Beaver post, and at some time in the near future, Milford vets will withdraw into their own organization. Other workers in the organization are Dr. C. R. Par-rish, Par-rish, George Litchfield and Alvin Baker. It is estimated that there are around forty men in Milford who are eligible for membership in the Legion; Le-gion; about twenty-five have been sounded out and are favorable; about five of these are from Minersville. Following the initiation into Beaver Beav-er Post No. 2, a business meeting will follow at which time a motion will be made to secure a charter for Milford. Dr. E. A. Petty, Commander Command-er of Beaver post, will preside. Following the meeting there 'will be a banquet at the Milford hotel. The Milford orchestra will play during dur-ing the banquet. All vets are urged to attend the meeting whether or not they contemplate contem-plate joining the American Legion at this time. |
