ESCAPING TAXATION The idea n? tax-exemption for any class of citizens at the expense of another class, should be repugnant to every American. And yet there arc today some $15-000,000,000 $15-000,000,000 worth of tax-exempt bends and securities outstanding in this nation and hundireds of millions of new bonds of this character being issued by cities, counties and states each year. Tax returns show that these issues are absorbed by the wealthy who pay not a penny's tax on many millions mil-lions of income. Amounts thus lost being made up by the average citizen citi-zen and business man whose tax burden bur-den is doubled. Here is the first place to start to equalize the tax bill and President Harding has urged upon Congress the necessity of amending our laws po as to do away with this inequality in distribution of tax load.
