Show "ScenkUtah" Is Attracting Nationwide Nation-wide Attention Mr. F. D. B. Gay, secretary of the Scenic Highway association, was in Milford Wednesday. He was accompanied accom-panied by Mr. E. O. Hoppe of New York City, who is taking pictures and writing impressions of North America, sent here by a large New York syndicate. They visited Cedar Breaks, Bryce, Zion canyon and the north rim of the Grand canyon. Mr. Hoppe has traveled in Asia, ' Africa, Japan and many other foreign for-eign countries but says he has never seen anything that compares with the beauties of Southern Utah. "They are different and not to be compared with the other parts of the world that I have visited," he said Mr. Hoppe left Wednesday for a visit to Yellowstone park, while Mr. Gay went to Ely and Lehman caves to take pictures. He is preparing a story to show the connection between be-tween the Lincoln and Yosemite highways. The people of Utah do not realize t lie beautiful scenery they have so i lose to home, according to Professor Profes-sor James R. Griffiths, head of the recreation department of the Univer-bity Univer-bity of Utah, who recently said: "People ui Utah must be organized organiz-ed into scenic touring groups before they will become acquainted with t lie natural wonders of Utah. It is very improbable that the people as a whole will go out on their own . initiative. Some of the best centers i'or the organization of these groups are the state high schools as well as grade schools and community recreation recre-ation departments. "Because of the numerous parts of the state which have such a variety varie-ty of natural beauties in the way of scenery, the people of Utah have almost al-most at their doorsteps much better opportunities for outings and vaca-lion vaca-lion trip's than have the people of .ilmost any other part of this nation. na-tion. "The Utah wonders are different. They are not to. be compared with ibose of other parts of the world because they are such a different kind or beauty; they stand repeated visits, and the oftener one sees them the more one can appreciate them." |
