Show SOCIAL EVENTS IN MILFORD DURING THE PAST WEEK MASQUERADE BALL The Cath olic ladies will give a masquerade ball on St. Valentine's day, February Febru-ary 14. No costumes will on display, but we will be glad to direct you to them. BIRTHDAY PARTY Mrs. L. B. Bohn entertained for her daughter, Eleanor on Thursday afternoon in honor of -her ninth birthday. Games andi contests took place. A dainty luncheon was served at 4:30 to 8 little guests. PARTY Mrs. J. Jeffers was a delightful de-lightful hostess during the holidays to her mother, Mrs. L. J. Williamson three sisters, Inez, Mary and Elma, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bozartu aifdl two children of Las Vegas, Mrs. Bozarth being a sister of V,rs. Jeffers. Jef-fers. P. H. C. C. CLUB Mrs. Ralph Quayle entertained the P H. C. C. club at her home Saturday eveninf. Prize was won by Mrs. Charles Ford. Miss Lila Stanley and Mrs. Faucet were invited guests. D. D. S. CLUB, Ladies of the D. D. S. club were entertained at the home of Mrs Sam Hickman on Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon. They were entertained enter-tained by needle work. Dainty refreshments re-freshments were served. Mrs. Alton Smith was an invited guest. ENTERTAINS Miss Ruth Elmer entertained at her home on Saturday Satur-day evening in honor of Miss Louise Levi. Music, dancing and games were the featured entertainment. A delicious luncheon was served at 12 o'clock to twenty-seven guests. BIRTHDAY PARTY Miss Ava-nel Ava-nel Newhart was (honored guest at a party igven by her mother Thursday Thurs-day afternoon, the occasion being her 10th birthday. The table was beautifully arranged and a delicious luncheon was served, followed by games and contests of much Interest BRIDGE CLUB On Saturday afternoon, af-ternoon, December 27, the ladies of the Saturday Brid.ge club were entertained en-tertained at the home of Vrs. P. J. Evens. Red and green was the color scheme. A dainty luncheon was served serv-ed at 5 o'clock. Mrs. Wm. Fernley won prize for points; Mrs. Wm. Elmer El-mer prize for honors. Mrs James Glenn and Mrs. Fred Levi were invited in-vited guests. N SATURDAY BRIDGE CLUB The ladiles of the Saturday Bridge club were entertained at the home of Mrs. J. R. Murdock on Tuesday af-ternoon af-ternoon at five o'clock. Luncehon was served. Prize for points was won by Mrs. Wm. Elmer; for honors by Mrs. Jack Theissen. Guest prize wns won by Mrs. Charles Newhart. Mesdames Parrish. Markham, Kes-ler Kes-ler and Newhart were invited guests LADIES BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. O .1. David was hostess to the Ladies I'ridge club on Saturday afternoon .-.I. the Atkin hotel. A real smart luncheon lun-cheon was served In the Atkin cafe at 1:30 o'clock. The center piece con sistod of an Immense silver candle j slick holder, containing 5 orchid -andles, orchid and silver was carried car-ried out in the decorations. Mrs. E. A. Olson won the bridge prize, a handpainted cup and saucer. The hos tess was also presented with a gift of the same kind. ENTERTAINS Mrs. Dan James entertained at her home on Tuesday evening at cards In honor of her daughter. Mrs. Wm. Smith, of Salt Lake, who is visiting here at the present time. Dainty refreshments were served to the following: Vrs. Keough. Mrs. Jennings, Mrs. Millie Harris. Miss Myrtle Horton, Miss Lydia Robinsor.. Vrs. J. McCann and guest of honor. Mrs. Smith. THE HEATHER CLUB Through, the courtesy of our fellow members Mr. and Mrs. Stirling cordially invited in-vited all members of the above club, to be at their respective residence at 8 p. m. andi partake of a 'Hogmanay' 'Hog-manay' supper the last nicht of the year 1924. All members were present: pres-ent: Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Glenn, Mr. and Vrs 'Cochrane, our host and host ess, Mr. and Mrs. Stirling and family, fam-ily, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fernley, Mr. and Mrs Jas. Boyter. The table' was burdened down with all that was good.to eat and. it surely looked bon-nie. bon-nie. Mrs. Cochrane offered up an appropriate ap-propriate blessing for the occasion in the following words: "Some hae meat and canna eat. And some wad eat who want It. But we hae meat and we can eat. So let the Lord be thankit!" And we all did justice to the many nice eatables that were there. After supper the evening was speni in a very enjoyable manner, singing andi dancing in Scotch fashion, bidding bid-ding fareweel to the Auld Year 1924 and giving the New Year 1925 a hearty welcome. After being Mr. and Mrs. Stirling First-Fit, a tradition that is upheld by all Scotch people they never forget it or they dee. We all went and First-Fitted all the members from one house to another and had a goodi time while we were there to start off 192 5 in right good shape. We all separated and went to our different hames well satisfied with respectable hour at 9 a. m. Of all the parties with mirth and joy, there none excels. It has that harmonious har-monious sound of the Liberty bell. The Heather club. |
