Show R. C. HOSPITAL ESTABLISHED What place could be more fitting for a hospital than the beautiful high school building on top of the hill, which the board of education has kindly donated to the Red cross for the purpose of caring for the people that nave the influenza and pneumonia pneumon-ia that they may receive the proper treatment, and to stamp out the epidemic epi-demic that is going through town on account of the lack of such a place. Mrs. J. R. Pearson is superintendent superintend-ent of the hospital, assisted by Mrs. H. M. Gourley. Mrs. C. H. Bryan, a graduate nurse, is head nurse on the day shift, assisted by Mrs.. Dan Paine and Miss Margretts, French teacher in the Milford high school. The night shift is in charge of Miss Louis Ambrose, Am-brose, a 'graduate of the St. Marks hospital, assisted by Pat Riley and Rudy Pizzars. The diet, kitchen is charge of our domestic science teacher tea-cher at the high school, Miss Kath-alan Kath-alan Nutter, assisted by the high school girls, .and there is much more help.needed. in.this line. Thelaun- dry work is done by Mrs. Vern Bird assisted by Miss Sarah Keener, our engllsh and mathematics teacher. The work is done in the girls lavitory and the gym has been converted into a drying room, ' -.;'.'. Miss Sims has been going up and working every Bpare moment she. has had to help relieve the nurses. The railroad, Red Cross and townspeople towns-people have responded' very generously gener-ously toward the fitting up and carrying carry-ing on the hospital. The railroad has furnished ?i matresses,' 48 sheets and-as and-as many pillow slips, 40 pillows, medical med-ical supplies, hot water bottles and various other articles ... The Red Cross has the diet and hospital hos-pital supplies to look after and al' bills are charged to the Red Cross hospital. Individuals who are able to pay will be charged a moderate price. The railroad employes are taken care of by the railroad the- county patients pa-tients by the county. It Is very gratifying the way the teachers have responded in helping out in the work, also the community at large. Mr. Bates the principal of the high school, has been made, a member of the board of health, assisted assis-ted by Will T. Miss Stoddard was formerly a resident of Milford,- She has been quite ill for the past two weeks, but will soon be able to be on duty. . ' Mrs. Mary M. "Bartlett of Lund.. Ft-'j ah, who made homestead entry July j 17, 1915,. was in town Tuesday and! finished proving up on her claim. J It surely was a happy day for .Mrs. j Bartlett, after having lived on this j claim for three long years all alone. her nearest neighbor being 11 1-2 j miles away. j ' i We were glad to see our old friend George Trent come drifting in last Tuesday from Los Angeles. He pays that he took in the whole state or California Cal-ifornia in his two week's trip. Going some George.- He says San Diego is closed tighter than a drum with the flu, he did not stay there long; hut San Francisco was wide open. |
