Show Taught Chinese Lacemaking. The art of lacemaking was first taught to the Chinese of the Chefoo district by foreign missionaries about twenty-five years ago. They believed that by teaching lacemaking the women wom-en and girls would find profitable employment em-ployment within their own homes, and the subsequent spread of the industry indus-try lias fully justified their efforts. Although first taught in Chefoo. Chi Hsia listen was the first district in which lace was extensively made. |
