Show WHY NOT? Regular Auto Travel Between Salt Lake and Ely, Nevada, Via Milford a Possibility. Business Men's Association Takes Action At a meeting of the Business Men's Association, held Monday, in the office of Secretary Nichols, action was taken looking to the securing for Milford ot the benefits of the auto traffic between be-tween Salt Lake and Ely, Nevada, now 'going around us," via the Lincoln highway. By the use of the latter route, the autoist has to make a climb of over eleven thousand feet over the Shel-bourn Shel-bourn PaBS, as well as suffer the inconvenience, incon-venience, discomfort and dangers of a trip across the American desert. By taking the route through Milford, a trip which usually takes three days from Salt Lake to Ely, may be cut down to a matter of two days. The importance of such a diversion of traffic through Milford has stirred local business men to action and at Monday's meeting it was decided to inaugurate a systematic campaign with that end in view. Towns affected by-such by-such diversion of traffic, are Lehi, . Spanish Fork, Provo, American Fork, Nephi, Juab, Scipio, Fillmore, Milford, Frisco, Newhouse, Burbank, Garrison, and Osceola, Nevada. These towns will be asked to co-operate with Milford Mil-ford in this cariipaign. The route will be thoroughly, "logged" on portions which are not so covered in official descriptions. The project is of such commercial importance to all the towns along the proposed route, that it is thought there will be but little if auy trouble in interesting the other points named in the plan. About September 20th it is proposed to send one or two auto loads of "boosters'' over the route, to still further advertise the proposition. |
