Strike Leaders Charge That Strikers Are Subjected to False Arrests, Assaults and Unlawful Search of Their Homes. I'ittshurg. Organized labor on Friday Fri-day began its legal battle in the courts fur the right of free speech and assemblage, as-semblage, which the sieel strikers claim has heeu denied them by public officials of Pittsburg and Allegheny county. A bill in equity, asking for an injunction restraining Mayor F.. V. Babcock, the director of the department depart-ment of public safety, the superintendent superintend-ent of police and the commissioner of police from preventing labor meetings, meet-ings, was filed in the county court ami the hearing will be held here next Thursday. It was announced by counsel for the strikers that additional suits would be filed lagainst (aulhorities of several other municipalities and against county coun-ty officials' and certain corporations. It was also given out that a large number num-ber of damage suits will be filed against corporations and public officials offi-cials for alleged false arrests of strikers, strik-ers, assaults and unlawful search ot houses. |
