Show AS VHUAL Once again our dearly beloved w. cl. rishel of Salt Lake, secretray of the Utah automobile association, is in dutch with the people of southwest south-west Utah. If there is a man In the entire state that makes' us tired, it Is this same rishel. He never was known to be right and never will be until he tendH strictly to' his own business if he has any. This time he has stirred up a hornets hor-nets nest in Garfield county and surrounding sur-rounding territory, by offering a orize for a new name for Bryce Canyon. Can-yon. On this subject the Garfield county coun-ty News, has the following to say: Ye gods and Little Fishes We wonder what will pop up next. The utomobile association is offering a irize for an "Appropriate Name for Bryce Canyon.". What we want to !tnow is, whoenel gave anybody apy uithority to change the name that has had a million dollars worth of advertising to some highfalootin name that no one can pronounce. Just for the sake of a foolish whim, lomeone has, dear old Bryce Canyon is to be set back a couple of years. Not on your tintype; just as well try and call Bill Peters Za, Za, or some other name. Why, the very thought makes ub tremble. Bryce Canyon has had hard enough time to rise without someone trying to kick down. The name It bears right now is good eaough for us, and until the county commissioners tell us to call it something else, it will be Bryce Canyon. It looks like a case of petty jealousy jeal-ousy cropping out some place. If such a thing were possible we imagine that Ebinezer Bryce would rise up in his grave and haunt anyone any-one that would dare to even think of calling the place anything else. Major Benj. Cameron Jr. the commercial com-mercial club; James N. Henderson, chairman of the) county commissioners, commission-ers, have wired the sentiments of the people of this city and county regarding regard-ing the changing of the name. |
