GOOD ADVICE An old man gazed on a handsome lad, Who stood with a bowed down head; Placed his hand on the young mar's arm, These words unto him said. You say that this old world's cold, my boy, Vnd your friends are all untrue; , The clouds have hidden the sunshine bright, Vnd everything is cold and blue. Now let me give you a word, my boy. Why, it's not the world that's wrong. Have you gazed over the backward tracks. While you've been plodding along. Come walk with me, o're the miles back there. Do -you find any sunshine, boy. That you have left with a kindly word, That filled some poor heart with joy. Do we find roses strewn by the way. '.eft there by a kindly deed; Do we find your name out there, my boy, Where you've proved a friend In need. You've traveled along the shady side, Come out where the sun shines bright; You'll find this a grand old world, my boy. If you'll do the thing that's right. Oh, t o many grope along life's path, Who never find the flowers; They are always looking for the clouds. N'ever see the sunny hours. Now, come, put your shoulder to the wheel. And help this old world along; Come, make it bright for the other chap, When everything goes dead wrong. Shall we always live for ourselves. my boy, Is there none else on earth Who needs to feel the warmth of a smile, And perhaps one hour of mirth. If you'll live some time for the other chap. Then our friends will all be true, The old world will not be half so bad Perhaps, when the day is through. Now face the world, there's a smile, my hoy. With a heart that's brave and true. Oh, you'll not go far to find true friends. For they will be hunting you. E. L. ALLEN Mrs. Dave Jones entertained at a c r.jy-pull for a few friends Thurs-' Thurs-' lay night.
