Miss Ware, who was unable to attain at-tain the prominence of featured roles for some years in Hollywood, suddenly found herself thrust into the limelight when she was recently recent-ly assigned to the romance lead opposite O'Brien in "Whispering Smith Speaks", and again fiunr herself in his new adventure drama "O'Malley of the Mounted," which comes to the Firmage theatre Friday Fri-day and Saturday as one feature of a double show. The story' of. O -Brien's new picture is a- drama of an heroic "mountie" who risks life and limb to bring a dangerous border gang to justice an dto win the girl he loves. A story of young folks in love and young fry in trouble, in the touching, happy, uproariously funny style that only Booth Tark-ington Tark-ington possesses, comes to- the Firmage theatre in "Gentle Julia' Friday and Saturday as the other feature of the double show. This now Fox comedy-romance features Jane Withers at the head of an all-star all-star cast. Teaming with Jackie Searl, the picture brings the quaint oharni and drowsy happiness oi a midwest town of the early 1900 s to the screen in the story of a hellion who plays cupid in her off moments. The picture is brought to a happy conclusion which winds up when Tom Brown, an old sweetheart sweet-heart of Miss Marsha Hunt, a pretty aunt of Jane's, ends up at altar. Two of Hollywood's most able junior players, Jackie Hughes and Eddie Buzard and also Henrv Holman, Hattie McDaniel and Francis Ford are in the cast. The new picture, filled with romance, drama and mystery, gives both players an excellent opportunity for their talents. Moving with lightning speed, the Lawrence Weingarten production concerns a prosecuting attorney who sends men to their doom by his brilliant use of circumstantial cir-cumstantial evidence. When he is caught by circumstances for a crime he has not committed his wife comes to his aid to save his life. Both .Tone and Miss Young are outstanding in their respective roles as the attorney and the wife. Thursday The first motion picture drama based on tlhe government's CCC camps comes to the Firmage theatre thea-tre Thursday under the title of "It's a Great Life". Typical activities acti-vities in the CCC are examined in detail by the camera, though the background for the picture is secondary to the story's romantic aspects, involving Joe Morrison, Paul Kelly and Rosalind Keith. The picture acquires balance through the work of Charles (Chic) Sale and of three juvenile stars, Baby LeRoy, David Holt and Gloria Ann White. "It's a Great Life," is the story of two young men, who enroll at a C C C camp, become warm friends and fall in love with the same girl. Dramatic highlights of the picture include a 1 forest fire and the dynamiting of a dam in order to avert an explosion of a powder house.
