Show MINERSVILLE Miss Norma Thornton of Salt Lake City is visiting with friends and relatives this week. She is the daughter of Grant and Ethel Eyre Thornton. Mrs. Clark Gillins visited with Mrs. Heber Gillins following her recent return ; from California where Clark 'had been stationed. He has now left for overseas duty. She had with her their young son Richard. Mrs. Ervine Eyre of Lansing, Michigan has been visiting with Mr. Eyre's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Eyre She. is accompanied by her son Ervine jr. At present they are visiting with relatives in Las Vegas, Nevada. Returning home from a trip to northern Utah, Mrs. Edna Mecham was accompanied by her two sisters, sis-ters, Mrs. C. E. Young and Mrs. Nellie Osborne. Mrs. Mecham is convalescing from a serious back injury received while riding in a street car in Salt Lake City. Little Yvonne Baker entertained a group of her friends Sunday afternoon, the occasion being her seventh birthday. It seems almost like Old Home I week. Four of our service men are home, three of them from overseas duty. Ralph Bonner, son of Mrs. Kenneth Kelsey, has completed com-pleted 35 missions as tail gunner on a bomber and is here from England for three weeks. Arnold Rollins, who has been in the South Pacific for 23 months and ha3 seen a great deal of action, is being warmly welcomed by his family and friends. It is his first furlough fur-lough since entering the service. Roldo Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Robinson, also has seen action in the Pacific and is here for a few days. Roldo and Arnold are both in the navy. Billie Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Davis, also is home. He is still stationed in the United States. "Higher mathematics and finance fin-ance are above me, as I have said, before," remarked Aunt Selinda. "But it seems to me folksll just have to start drinking more hard liquor if we're to keep the state's books balanced.' |
