There are many interesting things in these papers and we are sorry there are not enough for every child to have a copy of the paper. We read and studied the article,: "Hig Wheat Crops Make Farmersj I Happy." The wheat crops this year are very different from those' raised in the past five years. From 1932 to 1M6 Mother Nature neglecte-.l the western farmers. Iack of rain and much wind caused caus-ed great dust storms. This dust choked the wheat. Grasshoppers came by the millions and ate the crops and very little wheat was raised. Farmers must depend upon their crops for their livelihood and when their crops fail they do not have money to spend. Many farmers had to go to other places to find work hut some remained on the farms. Those who stayed plowed their fields and spent money to make the ground rich. This year they again planted more wheat and Mother Nature was kind to them. She smiled sunshine on their fields. She also gave them ! plenty of rain. Now the farmers' barns are full of wheat and the crop is nearly as large as the one in 1931. This is good news for everybody. The farmer will have more money and they drive to town and buy things they need. This will help the storekeeper and gasoline stations. The railroads will have more wheat to ship. This will make more work for men. Much of the wheat will be shipped to foreign countries and much will be made into bread. In the cou-try cou-try bread is called the staff of life. Elmer C. Anderson.
