Show Republicans of Beaver County Revamp County Organization At Rousing Minersville Meeting Former Senator George Jefferson Is Reelected As County Chairman; Meeting Addressed By Late Gubernatorial Aspirant Former State Senator George Jefferson was reelected as county chairman of the Republican party for Beaver county Friday evening of last week at an enthusiastic and well attended meeting held at Minersville. At the same meeting! Mrs. J. F. Murdock jr. was elected! associate chairwoman and Mrs. j Myron P. Lewis, also of Milford, was elected county secretary. I The meeting was held for or-, ganbation purposes and attended, by delegates named at precinct' primaries the evening previous in accordance with the call of County Chairman Jefferson. In addition to the delegates and alternates, an invitation to attend the meeting . had been extended to the general t public and a large crowd was present as a result. j William H. Seegmiller, formerly of Kanab but now living in Salt Lake City, defeated candidate for governor at the recent Republican state convention, attended the meeting as a representative of the state committee and gave a talk to the delegates and others that will no doubt stir them on to renewed confidence in a G. 0. P. victory on November 3. Mr. Seegmiller is an impressive speaker and, with his background as a warhorse of the Republcan party, has a large following fol-lowing in the. state, especially in the rural areas. Saturday, October 3, was selected select-ed as the date for holding the Republican Re-publican county nominating aon-vention aon-vention and Milford was designated designat-ed as the place for holding it, this being in line with a rotating order which has long been in effect in Beaver county. At this convention there will be nominated candidates for state representative, for long and short term county commissioners commis-sioners and for county attorney. In accordance with this same custom cus-tom of rotation, the commissioners to be nominated will come from Minersville and Milford, with the long term job going to the Minersville Miners-ville man. H. A. Christiansen of Beaver, elected to the long term in the election two years ago, is the holdover commissioner and present chairman of the board. |
